In 1898 His Majesty Emperor Franz Joseph I bestowed its mission upon the newly built militia cadet academy on Eslarngasse in the Third District of Vienna. The striking edifice from the Wilhelminian Period housed a boarding school in which the budding officers of the Royal-and-Imperial Army obtained their basic military training, as well as equestrian stables, riding and exhibition halls on the ground floor. After the end of the monarchy the generously proportioned spaces served as a boarding school until the early 2000s.
